Miranda Jett Presents: Does Free Advertising Actually Work?

Free advertising does work IF you know how and where to advertise.   In this article, I will cover several resources where you can place ads free of charge.

1. Craigslist.  Advertising in the business opportunity section in Craigslist is 100% free. However, I would not recommend placing more than 3 ads on Craigslist a day. Attempting to post more than 3 ads on Craigslist daily could get your ads ghosted or blocked.

2. Backpage.  This website is similar to Craigslist. For now, they are a little more lenient. I have found and I am able to post multiple ads in different cities. I usually post 10 ads per email.  When I am done posting 10 ads with one email address, I will use another email address and post 10 more ads.  It works. I have been able to obtain great prospects who have seem my ads on Craigslist.

3. Business World List.  Business World List is actually a safelist, which contains over 80,000 subscribers. I would have to say that this is one of the better safelists out there. BWL offers a free and paid membership option. However, as a free member, you are only entitled to email 200 people every 3 days. As a paid member, you are able  to email the entire list.

4.  Create a Myspace page. Now, here’s a fantastic way to brand yourself.  You want to create a Myspace page and search for other internet marketers or people who you think would be interested in your business. However, here, you don’t want to do any direct selling. The best way to approach this is to offer free, but valuable information to your Myspace buddies. Doing this could not only help you build your list, but it could also help you establish rapport. Therefore, in the future, your “friends” may buy something from you.

5. Write articles and press releases. Again, this is a great way to brand yourself.  Also, you do not want for your article or press release to scream, “buy me, buy me!” It would be obvious that you are up there trying to sell something and many people who are just looking for good information would be turned off by that.

In order for these resources to work, you MUST be consistent! You can’t expect to post one or two ads on a free site each day and expect to receive a flood of traffic to your website.  You must post several ads a day to various various websites.  When using Myspace or any other business social networking site, you must invite friends on a regular basis. The more people you invite, the more people you will have to market to.
